Blueberry Love

                                  H&M blazer, Atmosphere top

I have fallen hopelessly in love…more than once. It has always been delicious food, and my weakness of all weaknesses has been the irresistible desserts. I have taken many lovers but one repeated affair is with the Greek delicacy, blueberry cheesecake.

The Greek dessert and I have shared many moments. One was after a filling dinner; my host had offered some dessert to which I gracefully declined. When I was informed that the dessert was blueberry cheesecake, my animalistic instinct took over. A weakness is a weakness! I started with a giant piece. Much to my host’s amazement, two pieces of cake were making their way down a questionably full tummy.

Radisson serves one of the best cheesecakes in the country. The cake has the right amount of cream and sugar. Each bite’s existence is short lived as it melts in your mouth and leaves you yearning for more. Blueberry cheesecakes undoubtedly defy the law of diminishing marginal utility just like love- we can never tire from both, can we?

A date with food (continued)

A sleepover followed the hot cups of Illy coffee. Random conversations continued till 4 AM. With plenty of warm beds available, the four decide to snuggle in one bed.

By the time sleep caught up with us, we were up and energized to fix a Saturday brunch. Slogging in the kitchen for two hours under the supervision of Chef Yeshi, we created a special menu.

Yet again, an early date with food! Yeshi’s special omelet, cheese toast, mashed potatoes, pasta, and a newly created dessert- our mouths were hard at work again.

Following the scrumptious meal was a lazy Saturday nap on the warm soft grass. Basking in the afternoon sun- eyelids were heavy, tummies satisfied and at that moment there seemed no reason to place an order in the universe.

Happy Saturday Brunch!

A date with food

The ingredients for a Friday night are usually a quick dinner, bar-hopping, drinks…more as the night continues, blaring music while you dance till your feet feel numb and illusions that shadow your mind leaving no traces of its existence the next morning.

Last night we tried some new ingredients. We sneaked in a bottle of wine with fancy wine glasses inside the Garden of Dreams. Surprisingly, the cozy corners were all empty. For the first time we had the liberty to choose a spot. As the only beings in this surreal paradise in Thamel, we took full advantage of the situation. Wine glasses clicked, voices grew louder and laughter almost reached the stars that filled the night sky. Secrets and stories swirled and escaped while trench coats faithfully clung to bodies in the freezing night.

As the night grew old, four pairs of staggering heels made their way towards Kaiser café. The pavilion built in the 1920s with its high ceiling and limited seating welcomed us in silence. Heels clicked and the dinning room slowly warmed up to its only four guests.

The Food…where do I begin and where do I end? It was a feast fit for an emperor both in quality and quantity. Taste buds met multiple foodgasms and reached new levels with each le plat. The night’s special trout, the beefsteak and the regular lasagna were all enticing and each bite was a pleasant surprise.

Closing time and we were not done. We were given a grace period of thirty minutes. Still not done. So we moved to the nearest place, Fire and Ice. After four cups of freshly brewed coffee and the night still felt young.
